Once a year during Research Group Leader (RGL) Retreat, CEITEC Research Group Leaders and Core Facility Heads meet off-site, share their achievements and discuss further possible collaboration. This year, the retreat took place in Hustopeče from 20th until 21st February. In total, 62 attendees met there.
The program involved discussion about evaluation 2018, presentation of grant opportunities, possible future model of financing of CEITEC and benchmarking of CEITEC with selected Austrian and Swiss universities. Markus Dettenhofer, the Executive Director of CEITEC, invited panelists Prof. Michal Novák, co-funder of AXON Neuroscience, Jan Neuman, co-funder of NenoVision, the first CEITEC spin-off company and Jiří Očadlík, Deputy Director for Innovation Strategy at CEITEC BUT and former Executive Director of Thermo Fisher Scientific to discuss how it is possible to bridge between discovery and utilization for science, how to work with industry and how to look for industrial partners. As every year, Group Leaders and Core Facilities Heads had the opportunity to present new achievements of their group and laboratories and to suggest topics for future collaboration.
