About event
Western honeybee is an important pollinator and therefore, an invaluable part of agriculture and biodiversity. Serious losses of honeybee colonies in recent years are attributed mostly to climate changes and various diseases. The most important microbial diseases of honeybees are American and European foulbrood. From the economic and environmental point of view, it is crucial to prevent spreading of these infections. Therefore, the development of effective methods for early diagnosis of bee diseases is necessary.
The workshop will focus on the application of photon-upconversion nanoparticles as sensitive labels in biomedical applications and immunoassays for diagnosis bee diseases. The speakers from CEITEC Masaryk University, Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the CAS and University of Regensburg will present the recent advances in the fields of upconversion nanoparticle functionalization, single-molecule immunoanalysis, and will introduce the joint research project focused on the development of multiplexed assay for bacterial pathogens of bees.
