Martin Pumera

is a dynamic scientist who is pushing the boundaries of nanotechnology. He leads the Future Energy and Innovation Lab at CEITEC BUT. He received his PhD from Charles University in 2001. During his career he has worked at leading universities and research institutions in Europe, USA, Singapore and Japan. Martin is known for his pioneering research in the field of nanomaterials and microsystems, in the specific areas of electrochemistry and synthetic chemistry of 2D nanomaterials, nanotoxicity, micro and nanomachines and 3D printing. His work combines interdisciplinary approaches to develop innovative materials and technologies that find applications in energy, medicine and environmental applications. As the most cited chemist in the country, he has published more than 900 papers that have received more than 77,000 citations (h-index is 130; Highly Cited Researcher, Clarivate Analytics, 2017-2021). Martin has supervised 30 PhD students, 8 MSc students and more than 50 undergraduate students and p5es 100 postdocs. More than 25 alumni from Martin's group are now in leadership positions at Universities around the world. The total amount of funding that Martin has received as Principal Investigator is 33 million EURO.
