The MUNI Scientist Award for outstanding achievements, publications in prestigious journals or publishing houses and outstanding research results was presented to 37 scientists, scientists or research groups on 11 December. 14 of them are from CEITEC Masaryk University.
The aim of the award of the internal Grant Agency of Masaryk University (GAMU) is to strengthen the motivation of the university's scientific staff and to spread the university's good name in the scientific community and the public. The award ceremony was attended by 43 researchers and teams in person in the atrium of the CEITEC MUNI Institute. The awardees include people from all ten faculties and the CEITEC Institute.
"We value the work of our scientists immensely, their research is important not only for our university, but also for the whole society. It gives me great pleasure to award these efforts and ideas every year," said Šárka Pospíšilová, Vice-Rector for Research and Doctoral Studies.
The award ceremony was preceded by a morning evaluation of the results of the projects for which the support period has ended and which were supported by the internal grant agency in the past years. The afternoon programme started with a summary of this year's activities of GAMU, which launched calls for researchers at all stages of their scientific career. Master's students can still apply for the Excellent Diploma Thesis Support programme until the end of January, scientists who have interrupted their careers for a longer period of time could apply for the Career Restart grant, MUNI Junior Star support was designed for researchers shortly after their PhD studies. Masaryk University also attracts holders of prestigious European grants to MASH and MASH StG/CoG programmes.
Vice-Rector Pospíšilová then introduced fifteen recent Career Restart support recipients. On behalf of CEITEC MUNI, this award was received by Soňa Bukovčáková and Monika Kubíčková.
The Vice-Rector also presented awards to excellent researchers.
