Life in Brno
CEITEC is located in Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic, which is a vibrant cultural and academic center. The city is home to several universities and research institutions, as well as a large number of international companies and startups. This creates a dynamic environment for research and innovation, and provides students with opportunities for networking and collaboration.
Accomodation provided by the Brno University of Technology
BUT provides good-class accommodation, mostly in double rooms. Half of the bedrooms are equipped with their own bathroom and toilet, another half has a common bathroom unit for a certain number of rooms. Most of the rooms are two-bed and three-bed rooms, a small number are single rooms. Students have a study room, TV room, bicycle room, music room with a piano, and a darkroom at their disposal. All halls are equipped with laundries and dryers as well as public phones. The premises offer various sports facilities like multipurpose fields, quality body building gyms, gymnasiums, pool tables, table tennis equipment and other sports facilities of the Center for Sports Activities.
Dining Services provided by Brno University of Technology
19 dining facilities are available in the premises of halls of residence and BUT faculties. It offers rich and varied menus – broad choice of hot and cold meals, made-to-order meals, vegetarian meals and desserts in cafeterias and restaurants, but also vegetable and fruit salads with main courses, fruits, variety of alcoholic and soft drinks. Pleasant cafés and bars are ideal for taking a rest and meeting friends.
Medical Care provided by Brno University of Technology
Students with health insurance are entitled to visit any general practitioner. The Student Health Centre, situated in the student halls of residence at Kolejní street (about 5 minites from CEITEC BUT), provides medical care for BUT students.
Welcome Service Provided by Brno University of Technology
The mission of the BUT Welcome Service is to support current and future foreign employees of BUT. We are the first point of contact for future BUT employees, providing them with information about the employment and all that must be done before and after their arrival. We also provide assistance to their families throughout their stay in the Czech Republic.
