Jiří Nováček is the head of the Cryo-electron Microscopy and Tomography Core Facility at CEITEC Masaryk University. He specializes in advanced electron microscopy, with a focus on life-science electron cryo-microscopy that allows high-resolution imaging of biomolecular and cellular structures. Since 2024, he has also served as Deputy Director for Research Infrastructures at CEITEC, contributing to the strategic development of research facilities and instrumentation. In the same year, he became chairman of the Czech Infrastructure for Integrative Structural Biology and a national delegate in Instruct-ERIC.
He earned his PhD in biomolecular chemistry at the Masaryk University National Centre for Biomolecular Research, focusing on method development for studying intrinsically disordered proteins using NMR spectroscopy. He received cryo-EM training during his postdoctoral stay at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Martinsried, Germany.
