Mission
The core facility provides the academic and other entities with access to advanced proteomic technologies based on shared resources and the know-how of highly trained staff. Effective utilization of the state-of-the-art mass spectrometric instrumentation promotes understanding proteome complexity according to the demands of research community. Thus, the Core Facility is involved in broad range of projects requiring protein characterisation covering fields of biochemistry, molecular and structural biology, human and veterinary medicine, microbiology, plant, agriculture and food sciences.
Services
Core facility operates in a full service mode. The services cover all of the steps of mass spectrometry-based proteomic analyses from protein isolation, protein and peptide mixture separation (liquid chromatography, gel electromigration methods), to protein characterisation by mass spectrometry and data processing. We also provide consultations and basic training in proteomics.
Long-term cooperation in the field of proteomic applications (beyond the terms of CF services) we can provide via cooperative projects with our proteomic research group.
Instrumentation
At present, we operate a set of mass spectrometers which allow us to cover wide range of proteomic applications:
MALDI-TOF/TOF MS:
- mass spectrometer Ultraflextreme
LC-MS/MS systems:
- with mass spectrometer Exploris 480 (with FAIMS)
- with mass spectrometer Orbitrap Fusion Lumos Tribrid
- with mass spectrometer TimsTOF Pro 2
- with mass spectrometer TimsTOF Pro
- with mass spectrometer Impact II
The Core Facility is part of Czech national centre of European Research Infrastructure Consortium INSTRUCT ERIC under the Czech Infrastructure for Integrative Structural Biology (CIISB) funded by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. The facility is also a member of the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF). From 2019, the facility takes part in the European Proteomics Initiative Consortium H2020 EPIC-XS.
